The launching of our 8,000-ton capacity floating dock—a product of the new cooperation between the State of Iraq and the Republic of Türkiye, and an achievement we are all proud of—took place at the Istanbul Naval Shipyard Command on August 26th, a date that holds a special meaning for us, the Turkish nation.
This is not merely the construction of a vessel; it is a ship that will be utilized for the maintenance and repair of dozens of future vessels within the EL FAW project in Basra, in whose construction our company also participates as part of the DEVELOPMENT ROAD PROJECT. As a company, we once again experienced the justified pride of building this project in our own country—which was originally considered for construction in another country—just as we did with the other 13 vessels we have brought to Türkiye so far. We are honored to express our respect and gratitude to the Ministry of National Defense (MSB), the General Directorate of Shipyards (TGM), and the entire staff of the Istanbul Naval Shipyard Command, particularly our Shipyard Commander Rear Admiral Recep Erdinç YETKİN, for their sincere support and cooperation in bringing this project to life, despite their heavy workload. Furthermore, we would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to Bureau Veritas, a global brand in classification, to Tomay Company, to all our subcontractors, suppliers, and to all our company personnel who worked selflessly without any concept of time.
